View Upcoming Blood Drive Calendar and Information
We at MABS, like the rest of the world, are watching the events unfold on the Gulf Coast. Thanks to all of our wonderful Clinics, their Staff, and Donors we have been able to send 25 units of cryoprecipitate poor and packed red cells to Louisiana State University to help them in their desperate rescue efforts. We want to express our sincere thanks to everyone who has made the effort to bring your pet(s) and donate at one of our Blood Drives. Your donation is now saving the lives of abandoned animals in New Orleans and the surrounding areas.
We encourage you to check the calendar and participate in our next blood drive. You can make a difference!.

Hello –
I am not sure exactly who to direct this message to, but I wanted to thank
you immediately for your overwhelmingly generous donation of blood products
to our hospital. Our supplies have been taxed to the limit caring for evacuated
pets from the New Orleans area suffering from heat stroke and other serious
illness, and this will make it possible for us to continue to provide safe,
reliable transfusions for the animals that need them. A very, very sincere
thank you from me, the owners of these animals, and the technicians that
work with me in our blood donor program.

Wanted you to see the difference your blood products are making – this is Mirada, a search and rescue dog that has been working in New Orleans. She came in last night with overheated, dehydrated and with severe gastroenteritis. Thanks to all of you, we had the plasma we needed to treat her.

Dr. Anne Hale pets one of the resident blood donor cats Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, at Midwest Animal Blood Services in Stockbridge, Mich. Hale, who's been in touch with veterinary medical assistance teams deployed to Louisiana and Mississippi, said Tuesday that many canines and felines survived the hurricane's initial blow. But they need blood to recover from heatstroke and serious injuries. The Stockbridge blood center, one of 13 animal blood banks across the country, has shipped 25 units, a third of itsweekly production, to Louisiana State University's veterinary school.
