INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE OF CRYOPRECIPITATE POOR
Cryoprecipitate poor plasma is made from the separation of cryoprecipitate and fresh frozen plasma. It contains plasma proteins such as albumin, coagulation factors except von Willebrand’s factor and Factor VIII, as well as immunoglobulin. This product is used for the treatment of coagulopathies such as rodenticide toxicity and replacement of proteins and immunoglobulins in deficient individuals. Cryoprecipitate poor plasma should not be used to treat von Willebrand’s disease or Hemophilia A.
STORAGE: This product should be stored at -20 degrees Celsius. Typically, a common household freezer is adequate. However, frostless freezers will decrease the lifespan of the product significantly.
EXPIRATION: This product expires 1 year from the time of processing. If this product is thawed but not opened, it may refrozen within 2 hours and maintain its’ coagulation capabilities.
THAWING: Plasma should be thawed at room temperature or in a warm water (37oC) bath for 30 minutes before use. Feline plasma products should be thawed in their cardboard carrier. Canine plasma products should be thawed in their cardboard or plastic carrier. If a water bath is used for thawing, the plasma should be placed in a zip lock plastic bag to avoid direct contact with the water to avoid contamination.
ADMINISTRATION:
This product should be given at a dosage of 6-12ml/kg. Severe
deficit of coagulation factors or immunoglobulin may require up to 20ml/kg/dose.
This dosage should be given over 2-4 hours. A standard in-line blood filter
should be used for administration. Call with questions or advice on specific
